Welcome to Eckington C of E

Caring and Sharing... Believing and Achieving Together.

At Eckington we believe that every child is special and children learn in their own individual way.  However, sometimes children require additional support to acquire basic skills, or thrive in school. The broad umbrella of ‘special needs’ embraces all learning difficulties which include sensory impairment, speech or communication problems, physical and behavioural difficulties. We have a nationally qualified SENDCo, and the Code of Practice is closely followed. Parents are kept fully informed should we believe that their child has special needs. They are encouraged to be involved in supporting their child and are invited to attend reviews each term. All staff endeavour to make an early diagnosis of potential difficulties as we firmly believe that as soon as we start working with children a structure for improvement can be put in place and possible long-term problems can be avoided. Conversely, parents are encouraged to inform the School of any issues, concerns or family histories of learning difficulties.
