Transition from Eckington School

At Eckington we provide education for our pupils from our Governor led Nursery or school in reception to the end of Year 5. Depending on where a child lives there are then two main progression routes from Eckington School. Both routes currently involve the children journeying through a chosen middle school and then onto a high school.

The majority of our pupils move on to Bredon Hill Academy in Ashton Under Hill for years 6, 7 and 8. From there, they move to Prince Henry's High School in Evesham for Year 9 onwards. This is the preferred route for our children in catchment. However, depending on where they live, we also have children making the transition to St Barnabas Middle School in Drakes Broughton which takes children in Years 5, 6 and 7. These children would then currently move to Pershore High School in Year 8. Please note the age ranges of schools in Pershore is changing to two tier from September 2027 (primary & high).

Eckington is part of a cluster of first schools who feed into Bredon Hill Academy. Good links exist between the schools and during their time at Eckington children have the opportunity to participate in many cluster and transition events. Staff within the cluster also work closely together to ensure continuity in the children’s education from feeder schools to middle school.

Due to our strong reputation in the local area, we also take a large proportion of children who live out of our catchment area. The Government supports parental choice in selecting schools for their children, however places are allocated according to the admissions policy applicable to the school. We strongly advise parents to check the individual school admission policy when considering where to send their child after their time at Eckington. Moreover, pupils will only qualify for free travel assistance from Worcestershire CC if they are attending the designated or nearest school (or the nearest designated school if you live in a joint catchment area) for your home address.
